Celebrating International Women’s Month

As we celebrate International Women’s Month, I reflect on my journey as a Hispanic female entrepreneur and the remarkable strides that women have made in the world of business. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of growing Med Aesthetics Miami into a trusted name in the beauty and wellness industry. While entrepreneurship has come with its fair share of challenges, it’s also shown me the power of resilience, hard work, and unwavering dedication.

viveve ladyEntrepreneurship, especially for women, isn’t always easy. Women still face significant barriers when it comes to accessing capital, gaining visibility, and breaking into industries where they’ve historically been underrepresented. Studies show that women-led startups receive just 2.3% of venture capital funding, despite women making up a large portion of the entrepreneurial landscape. Yet, despite these challenges, the past few years have seen a significant rise in female entrepreneurship. According to a 2021 report from the National Association of Women Business Owners, there are 13 million women-owned businesses in the U.S., and this number continues to grow at a rapid pace.

This growth is not only encouraging but a testament to the resilience and creativity of women in business. As women, we are carving out spaces for ourselves in industries that were once dominated by others. From healthcare to technology, and beauty to finance, women are now not only leading businesses but also innovating and driving change.

For me, entrepreneurship has been about more than just building a successful business; it’s about creating a space where people can come to feel empowered. When I first started Med Aesthetics Miami, I faced many challenges—navigating a competitive industry, establishing credibility, and building a loyal customer base. But I was driven by the belief that I could create a business that would make a real impact on the lives of my clients. By focusing on quality service, customer care, and staying true to my values, I was able to turn my vision into a reality.

One of the things I’ve found most rewarding is seeing more and more women enter entrepreneurship and find success. Women today are increasingly seeking independence and financial freedom through business ownership. The COVID-19 pandemic has only accelerated this shift, with many women seeking new opportunities after experiencing the limitations of traditional work environments. According to a 2020 study by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, 53% of women entrepreneurs reported starting their business in response to the economic disruption caused by the pandemic.

While there is still much work to be done, we are seeing more resources available for women entrepreneurs today than ever before. From mentorship programs to funding opportunities and networking events, the support system for women in business is stronger than it has been in previous generations. These resources have allowed me to grow Med Aesthetics Miami into a successful, community-focused business that continues to thrive.

As we celebrate this month, let’s recognize the progress we’ve made and the opportunities that lie ahead. The road to entrepreneurship may be challenging, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. With the right support, dedication, and passion, women can continue to achieve great things in the business world. The future is bright, and the best is yet to come.
